Our Story

  • Embarking on a transformative journey, Harsu Coffee's origins are intertwined with the personal and professional growth of our visionary founder, Bisrat Melaku. After graduating in Horticulture from Jimma University, Bisrat was assigned to Harsu, a small village nestled in the picturesque Guji Zone of the Oromia region. It was here that he encountered not only the vibrant local culture but also the intrinsic connection between the people and their time-honored coffee traditions.

    Witnessing the disparity between the quality of the indigenous coffee, the local culture, and the struggles faced by the community due to unfair profit-sharing, Bisrat recognized an opportunity to make a difference. The authenticity of Ethiopian coffee and the life and traditions of the locals inspired him to create a brand that could redefine the industry, benefiting both the community and preserving the rich cultural heritage.

    In Harsu, where the spirit of the land and its people spoke to him, Bisrat envisioned a company that would reinvent the wheel – a company that would not only elevate the quality of Ethiopian coffee but also address the social and economic challenges faced by the local farmers.
